Multiplate coloured lithograph with additional hand colouring of details. One of eight plates from this very rare work on salmon fishing on the Nipisaguit. The Nipisaguit is one of the very few rivers in North America where the salmon still visit for breeding purposes in undiminished numbers; saw-mills, spearing, netting, and what in England would be called poaching, have ruined the rest. Each will be supplied with the single sheet of descriptive text relating to the plate. Sheet size 14 3/4 x 11 inches. Image size 10 3/4 x 7 1/2 inches. Drawn on the stone by F. Jones after William Hickman and printed by Day & Son, lithographers to the Queen. Foxing verso and extensively in the margins but the image scarely affected. Please see images.

Drawn by Joseph Pike who was born on 6th March 1883 in Bristol. He was a painter in water-colour of mainly architectural subjects.
c1910 - 31 x 42 cm

Printed by E W Savory of Park Row Studios, Bristol who flourished between 1889 and 1920 and specialised in photolithography. These prints appear to be lithographs and the plate marks are very obvious on this heavy wove paper. Very faint spotting in outer margins (see images). He was a member of the Society of Graphic Artists (S.G.A.). Pike studied art at Ampleforth College under William James Boddy and exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Society of Graphic Artists and the Pastel Society.
