Illustrated by Mr and Mrs J Young Hunter. Neil Munro is also the author of Para Handy and Other Tales.

T.e.g. Blue buckram with head and tail of spine a little chipped and the central section of the lower hinge split. No foxing except for sl tanning to the leaves inside each fep. Neat dedication to inside of ffep. Norman Philip described and painted the buildings of a disappearing London leaving a nostalgic record of the Edwardian city. xvi + 294pp + leaf of adverts. 75 colour plates with captioned tissue guards.

Book Description: John Randall, Madeley, Shropshire, 1882. Hardcover. Original decorative publisher’s cloth in blocked in black and gold. Thick octavo, viii + 566 pp + 16 pp advertisements. This is the special issue of the second edition, with four mounted original photographs: Powis Castle; Shrewsbury, the Severn, Kingsland Bank and Quarry; Castle Ruins, Bridgnorth; Gloucester Cathedral. There are seven other full page engraved illustrations and numerous others in the text. The advertisements include several for bricks and other clay products. It is more sought after than the first edition which was published in 1862. Book Condition: Very good. Some of the mounted photographs are faded. Very little foxing though the fore-edges are spotted. A handsome copy of this scarce book, which is otherwise available on the web currently at £95 - £180

Folding plan of Canterbury, plan of the cathedral and folding map of the county at rear. 73 colour plates including frontispiece with captioned tissue guards. Original pictorial cloth gilt in fine order, virtually without blemish. Top edges gilt. Some signatures have foxing to the fore-margins of the pages and the end papers are foxed. Apart from this foxing, a very fine copy.

These are facsimiles of the lithographic plates published in 1842. Each plate has a full page historical and descriptive notice of the view by Charles Ollier and a parallel modern text by James Laver written in 1954. Book condition: Near fine. Dust Jacket Condition: A little light soiling. Four images available.

A Series of Ancient Baptismal Fonts, Chronologically Arranged.
Simpson, Francis, Jun. Drawn by; Engraved by Robert Roberts.

Book Description: Published by Septimus Prowett, London, 1828. First and only edition. Tall octavo. xxvi + 80pp + 40 plates + Addenda + Directions to the Binder. Bookplate of the Rt. Rev. Sir Lovelace Tomlinson Stamer Bt., DD, VD, (18 October 1829 - 29 October 1908) who was the first Anglican Bishop of Shrewsbury in the modern era. Full diced stained calf with gilt rope motive surrounding the boards, gilt decoration around the board edges and four raised band with elaborate gilt blocked motifs to the compartments. Title in gilt on a red leather label. End papers and all edges marbled. Ribbon marker intact. Book Condition: Although hinges are a little rubbed they are fully intact. The internal condition is almost entirely free of foxing and without offsetting, both often met with in this work. The plates are therefore beautifully clean (except the frontispiece which has faint spotting). A really fine copy. Three images.

Octavo, xvii + 141 pp. 45 illustrations in colour and monochrome. Decorative end papers. Book Condition: Very good. Top edges spotted. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. Repaired short tear, protective film has flaked off in parts around the spine (see image). The architect tells us why he wanted to build a cathedral and covers the competition process and the reception afforded to his modern design, and reveals his contacts with Epstein and Sutherland and the other craftsmen involved in the building.
